One extended journey through the Land Down Under has been cancelled following the fatal incident of an older female passenger who was stranded by the vessel on a remote island.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the group for a pause. The ship left without her and went back after some time after the crew became aware the woman was missing.

A major hunt found her body the subsequent day.

Officials are examining the event, together with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that passengers and crew on the vessel were informed that the continuation of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be provided a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to arrange the return journeys of the individuals via chartered flights".

Authorities also released an revised announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" prohibiting any new passengers from boarding the vessel.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The vessel first departed the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the time of the elderly woman's demise. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her family was "stunned and saddened that the vessel left the island after an scheduled outing without my parent".

Through her comments, she described her mum as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a participant of a hiking club.

"Based on limited facts we have been provided, it appears that there was a failure of attention and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She further stated that she wished the examination would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have performed that might have preserved Mum's life".

"According to reports from the police that it was a very hot period, and she fell ill on the mountain ascent," she revealed.

"They requested her to head down, unescorted. Then the ship sailed away, seemingly without doing a passenger count.

"During some point in that process, or shortly after, she passed away, without company."

In a statement, the Chief Executive affirmed that the organization was "working closely with officials to support their inquiry".

He said that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had provided its total backing to the family.

The ship caters for up to one hundred twenty guests with forty-six personnel, according to official details. It was specially constructed to access isolated locations of the Australian coast and is outfitted with "small boats" - minor craft used to take individuals on land visits.
