Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
